Professional Rug Cleaning, Repair & Restoration

We provide complete rug care, including cleaning, repair, restoration, resizing, dyeing, serging, binding and reweaving.

Depending on the service and location, work may be performed in-home, on-site or in one of our rug shops.

We currently offer rug pickup and delivery in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, California and Pennsylvania. In other service areas, we provide on-site rug service where appropriate.

Area Rug Cleaning

Even when an area rug looks clean, dust and fine particles can settle deep into the fibers. Over time, this buildup can become abrasive and contribute to premature wear.

Regular professional cleaning can help preserve the appearance and life of a rug. In many cases, we recommend professional cleaning approximately every two years, depending on traffic, pets, environment and the type of rug.

It is also helpful to rotate area rugs periodically so they receive more even traffic, light exposure and wear.

Our Rug Cleaning Process

The cleaning method is selected according to the rug’s construction, age, fiber, condition, colorfastness and level of soiling.

  • Rugs are first identified as handmade or machine-made.
  • Loose dust and dry soil are removed as thoroughly as possible.
  • Colors are tested for colorfastness before washing.
  • Stains and heavily soiled areas are inspected and pre-treated when appropriate.
  • Pet odors and other odor concerns may be treated with odor-neutralizing methods.
  • Fringes are handled separately when needed to reduce the risk of damage.
  • The rug is then cleaned using the method most appropriate for its material and condition.

Rug Washing & Specialty Cleaning Methods

Depending on the rug, our cleaning methods may include:

  • Full washing and controlled water submersion
  • Low-moisture cleaning
  • Extraction cleaning
  • Jet-spray cleaning
  • Special handling for delicate or color-sensitive rugs

Some stains, particularly certain pet stains or chemical discoloration, may permanently alter the fiber color and may not be completely removable. When this occurs, we explain the condition and available restoration options.

Rug Odor & Pet Damage Treatment

Pet accidents can affect both the appearance and odor of a rug. Depending on the rug and the extent of contamination, we may provide:

  • Odor neutralization
  • Pet stain treatment
  • Deep cleaning of affected areas
  • Fiber repair when damage is present
  • Color correction or dyeing when appropriate

Rug Repair & Restoration

Our experienced rug repair specialists handle both minor repairs and advanced restoration projects. We also receive specialty rug repair projects from outside our local pickup areas.

Rug repair and restoration services may include:

  • Reweaving damaged or missing areas
  • Restoring worn or missing rug ends
  • Corner restoration
  • Water-damage repair
  • Moth-damage repair
  • Hole repair using matching wool or compatible fibers
  • Pattern and design restoration
  • Binding and edge repair
  • Fringe repair and replacement
  • Repair of bald or worn areas
  • Rug resizing
  • Serging

Handmade & Oriental Rug Restoration

Handmade, Oriental, Persian and other specialty rugs often require more careful handling than machine-made rugs.

Before cleaning or repair, the rug should be evaluated for fiber type, construction, dyes, age, previous repairs and condition so the correct treatment method can be selected.
